Ari felt a little embarrassed as Zeke blushed, realizing that she'd flustered him by touching his hand. It was evident that he wasn't the stereotypical ladies' man- he lacked the suave charisma that the average womanizer possessed- but it pleased her to see that he was more of the awkward type. She loved when boys didn't know how to treat girls, as odd as it sounded; that meant they would treat her like an equal rather than an opportunity to flirt. It was comforting.
"So, where are we off to, mademoiselle?"
Ari grinned, pondering her options carefully. She hadn't really thought about where they would go. She had just wanted to escape from the stifling claustrophobia of the office. In truth, she didn't know her way around the school at all, so if she were left in charge, she would only lead Zeke on an exploration expedition; they wouldn't do anything but wander.
"I don't know," she replied brightly, backing up carefully so she wouldn't collide with another student. "I have no idea how to get to anything here. But we have to go exploring sometime, don't we? Might as well be now." She grabbed for his arm again, tugging him playfully in the direction of the door; she knew that there was the possibility she would embarrass Zeke again, but her touch wasn't meant to be coquetteish. It was merely friendly. "Are you in?"
((Bah, sorry, it sucks... my writing isn't at its best when I'm working on three hours of sleep.))

Of course Ari wouldn’t know anything about Laurel’s campus. She was just as new as Zeke was at this school. Duh. He also began to wonder where they could go. He had gotten lost a few times on his way to the office, and he was trying to recall if he saw anything interesting or fun. Most of it was outdoor seating and basically student commons areas, nothing that seemed really exciting for them to do. He began to reconsider, though, at the notion of him and Ari just getting lost together. It was no fun being completely lost by yourself, but with a friend beside you, it could be a good time.
Zeke fought a smile as Ari tugged on his arm. His discomfort last time was motivated because one, he was taken off guard, and two, he wasn't accustom to pretty girls grabbing at his hand. “How about we just get lost?” He suggested. “We’ll find our way around somehow. Just as long as we blow this popsicle stand.” He rolled his eyes and glanced at all the students going up in arms at the secretaries about their incorrect schedules, and said secretaries too busy talking to another disgruntled student on the phone to pay attention to the one standing before them. He felt relieved that they were finally leaving the noisy, bustling office. He did think about getting his schedule problem fixed, but he figured that if the counselors really needed to get his schedule to him, they could make time for him, instead of him wasting all his time on them.
Finally free from the confines of the office, Zeke looked around at the vacant, quiet space before he and Ari. It was such a contrast from the hectic noise of the Front Office. “So, pick a direction.” Zeke began to gesture to the various hallways and staircases they had as options. “Ladies choice, of course.” He grinned. The cleanliness of the walls and the extravagant, inspirational posters framed neatly on the neatly painted walls made him laugh. Laurel seemed to be all about the empowerment and stimulation of youth.

“How about we just get lost? We’ll find our way around somehow. Just as long as we blow this popsicle stand.”
Ari grinned, giggling as he followed her out the door. They had to push past quite a few people to reach the entrance to the office, but thanks to her grip on his arm they managed to stay together. She forgot to let go once they managed to squeeze their way outside, and their hands lay touching between them, their bodies close; it was a comforting sort of closeness, though, rather than a sexual kind. It was as though the lessening distance between them made Ari feel less alone in the huge new school that surrounded her.
"My thoughts exactly," she agreed happily, glancing around the empty halls that had seemed like a prison just minutes earlier. She had felt suffocated before she had met Zeke, as though the blandness of the walls was an indication of what her life would be like at Laurel. It seemed so much brighter with a friend by her side. "Couldn't have said it better myself."
She looked to Zeke, her eyes glimmering with excitement at what they were about to do. She hated change, but her favorite thing to do when she was forced into a new situation was explore. Her own indecisiveness was getting the best of her, and she had no idea which direction she wanted to take them in.
"Do you want to lead?" she offered, hoping that he would be able to choose. She wanted to see everything, her curiosity like that of a child's. It seemed unbearably unfortunate to her that she couldn't stretch in all different directions and experience the whole school at once. "Lead the way, monsier." Ari grinned at Zeke, playing on his name for her a few seconds earlier. She didn't speak French but she knew enough to counter his coy remark.

He noted her clever remark and laughed lightly. "Touche," He replied, nodding his head at her. Zeke felt the same comfort as Ari from their closeness. Each light touch was simply saying, "you're not alone." He, of all people, wasn't a fan of loneliness so he was happy that Ari was there, and they could so easily express their reassurance to each other so easily and without strain.
Zeke rolled his eyes and poked Ari playfully after she unloaded the decision of their destination on him. He was feeling just as indecisive as she was, but he wasn't about to stand around and bicker about who should decided what direction they should head in. It wasn't like there would be a trap door a crazy guy with a chainsaw if the chose the incorrect passage. He decided to solve their problem by the very sophisticated method of "eeny-meeny-miney-mo". He closed his eyes and began to mutter the classic childhood chant under his breath. His index finger landed on a corridor to their far left. "That way," He extended his arm out to fully define the direction they'd be heading for.
He silently hoped they wouldn’t get too lost. The buzzing excitement they felt now might wear off if they were aimlessly wandering around the halls and stairways of the building. If they got too backwards, Zeke imagined their fun would slowly transform itself into an ugly, nervous panic. He shook the thoughts. It was just a school, he had nothing to worry about. It wasn’t going to be a severely difficult maze or anything, and anyways, Ari was at his side. So if he felt the need to have a hard core anxiety attack then she’d probably be able to reason with him. His fretting heart now settled, he tugged at Ari’s arm as he proceeded down the unfamiliar hallway.
Zeke wasn't one to hide his insecurities, so he said, rather casually, "Well, I hope we don't get TOO lost, y'know?" He followed his statement with an awkward, stifled laugh to show his nonchalant stance on the issue, almost like he was joking. Of course, even he could sense the uneasy undertones located in his own voice. He ridiculed himself inwardly. Sometimes he hated how much of an open book he was.
