Emmy wandered around the campus for a while, looking for somewhere out of the way where she could practise. She had a pair of pointe shoes slung over she shoulder and was carrying a small portable CD player which she hoped she could find a socket for. It seemed a small miricle to Emmy when she came upon a disused art classroom, where there were only a couple of tables pushed to the sides of the room along with the chairs. Pushing open the door, Emmy's brown eyes took in everything around her, not that there was much to take in, but something over in the corner caught her eye. A half painted canvas stood on an easel next to a table, which had a pallete of paint set upon it. A smile played upon her lips, she wasn't the only one to use the room for their own purposes.
Emmy spent a couple of minutes searching for a plug socket, and after finding one, plugged her CD player in and set down her little black CD case which contained all her dance music. The brunette then took off her sweater and pants, leaving her in ballet tights, leotard and legwarmers and exchanged her converse for her poine shoes. She then began some simple leg stretches to warm up, moving on to plies and tendus, more simple warm up exercises.
Gradually, after doing the crucial teqnique work, Emmy moved into the centre of the room to practise turns. Picking a spot on the wall, the seventeen year old snatched her feet up onto her toes and picked up her right leg, whirling round and round, pirouettes. She then changed to fouettes, feeling uplifted, like she could just turn forever.
After finishing 32 fouttes (which was no mean feat on pointe), Emmy made her way back over to the CD player, and put in a mix CD she had used for practise for her last exam. The first track was Juliet's first solo from Romeo and Juliet. As Emmy began to dance, she became the character, to her, the young innocent girl who captivated Romeo's heart, Emmy's own movements and expression would have been enough to captivate anybody watching. Dance was freedom from your troubles...Emmy thought with a smile, ending a pirouette with an arabesque...
